Here are four simple methods that I have found to be effective:
Gratitude Journaling: This can be as simple as opening your notes app or buying a notebook, thinking about what you are grateful for, and noting it down once or twice a day. When you consciously list the things that you are grateful for, you direct your mindset towards the things that make you happy.
Meditating on the positive aspects of your life: Meditating on anything can reinforce that feeling or idea in your subconscious. In this case, it can foster gratitude. I will be speaking a lot more about meditation in future articles.
Expressing Gratitude: This might sound simple, but just tell someone that you are grateful for them or something that they have done for you, no matter how long ago it may have been. Alternatively, do something kind for someone else to show your gratitude for them.
Lastly, pay attention and try to enjoy the little things in your life!

I read @Kevin Cahill 's short form yesterday and am actually trying to practise gratitude more often.
I'm trying journalling things that I'm grateful for and being more aware & appreciative of the 'little things".
Anyone have any other ideas?
